History & Rules
A 'Sister Event' is any event where two or more members from the 1707
Golf Society compete for a title. The members can be same nation. There
is no restriction on the type of event (medal or stableford) and can be
agreed locally. However 1707 handicaps will reflect on sister event title
holders if no official club handicap is used.
Posh Shield
R. Jones finished a fantastic few months by taking the 2005 Posh Shield
held on Saturday 16th July. His 27 points pipped J. Tyerman to top the
field of 4. P. Blake managed some good shots and demonstrated he is well
on the path to good golf after his course of lessions.
Established in 2003 the 'Posh Shield' is held at Hollins Hall, Baildon.
It is a stableford event open to all individuals who play against the
very difficult course and any other players that attend. The future plan for
this event is to directly align it with the 'Open' held in July each year.
The current holder is James McCallum who took the title in 2003. The event was
cancelled in 2004 due to an unknown reason.
In the future this page will record all sister event details.
Seahouses Open 2005
Champion -Richard Jones took the Seahouses Open in style sinking a
16 foot putt on the last to win by one. The event was played over 54 holes and varied
wether conditions. Richards handicap is sure to drop for this years 1707 after this result.
